An employee from the Finance & Control department had created an Access Database with an Excel report on it. This solution displayed the financial figures of the Ministry of Defense. However, it was only possible to create a completely new database and Excel on a weekly basis. There was a need for a system that could store more data and build upon the data that had already been imported. Also, to retain these financial data over multiple years.
With my involvement, the Access database was replaced with a SQL Server 2019 database.
The Excel report was replaced with a Power BI report.
Starting from 2021, we began setting up a Data Warehouse based on Data Vault principles. In this process, we utilized SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) to import the Excel files containing data sourced from SAP/EveryAngle.
The NDWH (New Data Warehouse) is currently a crucial system for the Finance & Control department, where a large number of employees use it on a daily basis. In addition to these financial data, the data from the HR department was also later integrated, including information such as staffing, sick leave, performance reviews, and DCP (Deployment Career Program) percentages for military personnel.
